Ever been down at the boathouse during Fall afternoon when the high school and middle schoolers are practicing on the Norwalk River? It’s a busy scene, which Debbie Smith has captured in a new photo gallery. Debbie’s both coach and a professional photographer; she’s done a great job of capturing the essence of what happens down at the boathouse on an October afternoon.
What’s missing in these photos — because Debbie was doing her coaching job — are action shots of the coordination that takes place on the dock when one group comes in and the other goes out. Boats of all sizes — single sculls, doubles, quads, and eights — with rowers of varying skill levels must launch and dock with precision timing in order to keep up with the schedules. It’s a well-oiled machine, for sure!
