Sharon Kriz joins the staff at the Maritime Rowing Club as Director of Rowing Programs.

The Maritime Rowing Club is very excited to announce that Sharon Kriz, 3 time USA national team member and former Director of Rowing at the Saugatuck Rowing Club, has joined the staff this past fall. While at Saugatuck, Sharon helped lead youth crews to over 20 national championship medals and 15 athletes to national teams. She also helped to build a strong adult rowing program that was well represented at both regional and national competition.

“Sharon comes to us with a wealth of experience as an athlete, coach and program director.” says Yan Vengerovskiy, co-founder and head coach of the Maritime Rowing Club. “She fits in very well with our culture and philosophy. She’s been here 4 months and we are already seeing the positive impact.”

In addition to Yan, the MRC coaching staff is a nationally and internationally recognized staff with co-founder and world champion Olga Vengerovskaya, Olympic medalist Dan Walsh, and Russian National Team member Yulia Chagina. “We are in a very exciting time for our team right now as we get ready to move into a new boathouse and expand our programing.” says Roman Vengerovskiy, MRC’s Director of Operations. “Sharon helps us round out a fantastic coaching staff. The knowledge and experience she brings to our organization is a huge asset to us.”

“I’ve always admired what Yan and Olga have achieved here at MRC over the years.” Kriz says. “I was excited when they asked me to join their team and I’m really looking forward to helping MRC continue to grow.”

The Maritime Rowing Club, founded in 1996, trains on the scenic Norwalk River and will be moving into their new boathouse in the Spring of 2019. It is a team-oriented organization where all members work together to provide an enjoyable rowing experience in both sweep and sculling boats.. Rowing classes are offered for all ages and skill levels, from Middle School Learn-to-Row to Masters competitive racing.
