Leslie Freed, from Maritime Masters Program, just came back from a bike trip in Spain. She managed to squeeze in a row while there, and shares this with us:
Before I left for a bike trip in Andalusia I asked Jean Boero to email a boathouse in Seville (in Spanish) to arrange for a row while there. She connected with Fran Sabia a 30 year old coach from Club Remos Quadalquivr who graciously offered to show us his boathouse and accompany us on a row on the beautiful river, site of the 2002 World’s. The “us” turned out to be me in a shell and my husband on the launch taking photos.
Fran couldn’t have been nicer, saying he had been rowing since age 13 and his fondest wish was to come to the US and row at the Head of the Charles. Of course I welcomed him to stay with me and row at Maritime. He put me in a recreational Filippi and sent me on a 4000 meter row under 4 amazing bridges. See photos, and if any of you are ever in Spain, I will set you up with Fran.
