MARITIME ROWING COMPETING AS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT U.S. ROWING 2023 NATIONALS

Sarasota, Florida | June 6, 2023

This week at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida, Maritime Rowing will be defending its titles as the 2023 USRowing Youth National Championships get underway.

Maritime Rowing has 15 crews and 63 athletes of which eight won gold medals in the recent USRowing Northeast Regional Youth Championships, and seven others won for a total of 15 regional medals.

Last year, MRC dominated the podium at the Youth Nationals, bringing home three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

The Maritime Rowing Club Junior Men and Women traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts May 20-21 for the 2023 USRowing Northeast Youth Championships. 52 clubs and 489 entries from all over the northeast area competed for the right to qualify for this year’s USRowing Youth Nationals Championships in Sarasota, Florida.

Maritime Rowing raced 24 crews and 91 athletes, coming home with 8 Gold medals, 5 Silver Medals, and 2 Bronze medals. 15 crews and 63 athletes qualifying for this year’s USRowing Youth Nationals in the U19, U17, U16 and U15 age categories.

“Our athletes train all year long for these opportunities. We’re really proud of how the entire team performed and are looking forward to moving onto Nationals.” said Sharon Kriz, Director of Rowing Programs and Co-Head Boys Coach.

“Our results show that the team has tremendous depth and maturity. ”It is very exciting and rewarding to work with such dedicated and talented athletes! said Irina Skobreva, Head U15/U16 Boys Coach.
