Maritime Rowing Club will be representing Team USA at the Under 23 (“U23”) World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria on July 24 in the Men’s Lightweight 4x category.

Parker Lange, Oliver Ingram, Max Fenner, and Matt Podlesak have trained all summer with coach Yan Vengerovsky, and only started rowing together as a team in early June. On June 26, they earned a spot in the World Championship competition by winning in trial competitions at the National Rowing Center in Princeton, NJ.

All four have been rowing for years, although this will be the first time they compete as a team at this level.

Lange, a rising Junior at the University of Pennsylvania, started rowing at Maritime Rowing Club in 2010. He competed previously at the World Championships in 2010 in the Men’s 4-. Fenner, who was born in New York but raised in Germany, has won several German rowing titles, including first place in the lightweight single at the Berlin Regional Championships. Ingram is a rising sophomore at Columbia, where he rows for the Varsity Crew. He won the Philadelphia City 1x championship in both his junior and senior years in high school. Podlesak, who started rowing at Maritime Rowing Club during the summer after his 7th grade, was captain of the crew team at Brunswick school. He will be rowing at Harvard this fall.

Competition begins on Wednesday, July 24 and runs until Sunday, July 28.

The team has been challenged by US Rowing to raise $20,000 to support the US National RowingTeam
