Adult Rowing Learn-to-Row

In our Learn-To-Row program we offer eight 90-minute classes.

Each class includes instruction on proper warm-up and stretching, rowing technique, how to handle boats on and off the water, rowing terminology, and teamwork.

We utilize our indoor rowing machines (ergs), our 10-seat indoor rowing tank, and our on-the-water training boats to teach all participants how to row.

The current class being offered is posted in the Adult Rowing Schedule box on this page.

If you are unable to attend at the time being offered please fill out our interest form so that we can try to offer a class in the future that will fit your schedule.

Learn-to-Row participants may be intermingled with more experienced rowers as they progress.

After completing 1-2 months of the Learn-to-Row program, participants can join one of our more experienced groups and choose either a competitive or recreational program.

If you decide to join our club after you've taken a Learn-to-Row course, we'll credit the Learn-to-Row fee toward your membership.

We have a full fitness center in the boathouse.

Our members come from all over Fairfield County, CT and even Westchester County, NY. We are conveniently located near the MetroNorth train stations in Norwalk for those who want to workout before commuting to NYC.

If you wish to compete, racing is an integral part of our masters program and we participate in many regattas throughout the season.

You can also choose to row recreationally. The club has excellent boats available to members, including Empachers, Vespolis, MAASs, and Hudsons.

Many of our masters rowers started rowing as adults, and came through our Learn-to-Row program.

Whether you rowed years ago in high school or college, or you’re just looking for a fun way to exercise, we’d love to have you join the team!

College students are also welcome to row with us during school breaks
